Hi
The only thing I can suggest is that have a panel on either side which is the same size. set the location of the divider and make the divider static. I can't remember the exact settings but this is the only way I can think of to do this.
The proportion of each side depends on the data on each side of the 
split pane, text area verses list. Also consider different layouts to 
get the desired effect you want.
